About Emily

Emily Goldstein got her start like many of us do - as a horse crazy little girl. On her 10th birthday her parents gifted her with her first riding lessons at a local hunter/jumper barn, and from then on she was hooked. At 12 years old she began eventing and joined the Redland Hunt Pony Club in Olney, Maryland. Two years later, she got her first horse, an off the track thoroughbred.

Over the next few years Emily was a working student for several trainers, sitting on anything she could and bringing along young horses. She met her current horse (unicorn), Siouxperlucky (aka Mo), while in college. The six year old OTTB had limited steering and even less social skills, but Emily realized he had talent. Over the years as Mo taught Emily how to be a real rider she switched her focus away from eventing and to dressage instead.

After college, Emily tried working the typical 9-5 office life, and realized it was not for her. She then quickly dove back into the equestrian industry, accepting a position at an FEI dressage barn in NJ in the spring of 2017. While she gained hands on experience managing up to 25 horses and their daily care, she was also growing her training business and competing on Mo. In 2018, Emily moved back to Maryland with a position as an assistant trainer for Grand Prix rider Barbara Strawson. It was there that Emily finished her USDF Bronze Medal abroad her OTTB, Mo. In 2020, Emily took her business solo under the name Emily Goldstein Dressage. Since then, she has been working with Mo to earn her USDF Silver Medal.

Emily joined The Distinguished Rider team as a Brand Representative in June 2020 and has been a star! We love her enthusiasm and passion for TDR, and the Kingsley brand. She services MD, Northern VA, Southern PA, Delaware, and West Virginia.

Emily is currently working on rehabbing Mo after kissing spine surgery, and is hoping to get her final scores need for her USDF Silver Medal on him, her partner of 10 years. When she isn't measuring your boots, you can find her at the barn!

What does Emily love about The Distinguished Rider?

"I love the people that make up the TDR team, great work environment. Also love the "above and beyond" customer service provided that makes TDR stand out."

About being a TDR Brand Representative?

"I like that I control my schedule. I'm not a 9 to 5 person and I can work whatever whacky hours I want. I love the team of people we have at TDR. It's really rare to like the people you work with and have a truly healthy work environment, especially in the horse world."
"I also love that I am able to do something I am truly interested in. It's the best of both worlds for me, it's a lot less physically demanding than riding all day but I get to do something still in the realm of horses and riding."

What does Emily love about Kingsley?

"Quality products that really do make a difference. As soon as I rode in my Kingsley boots I loved them and felt the difference they made in my riding vs. the cheaper soft boots I grew up riding in. I also love that we are able to communicate with the factory and help develop/change/improve the products. It's a cool relationship."
