Katie Straton is a passionate dressage trainer, coach, and competitor based in Frederick, MD. She began riding at age 10 in a variety of disciplines (4-H, and Pony Club), until she found her true passion, dressage. Katie has now worked with classical master Charles de Kunffy for over 17 years, and JJ Tate for 15 years. She has earned her USDF Bronze and Silver Medals and competed to I1 with her horse, Theopolis Thisla. This includes a career highlight of earning the 2018 PVDA FEI High Score Award. Katie is committed to developing horses and riders through classical training principles with empathy, patience, and harmony. She prioritizes the happiness and well-being of the horses in her program and strives to create a fun and supportive team-like atmosphere where students can grow.

Katie is currently enjoying her 24 years young Grand Prix horse while she brings along her next youngster. She is organizing a fantastic winter clinic lineup and looking forward to next show season!
